Import photos from iPhone without iPhoto

So how do you transfer your photos from the iPhone 3G to your laptop running OS X if you don’t have iPhoto app? — Easy, just use the buit in app called Image Capture.

The app can be run from: Finder -> Applications -> Image Capture

Now, you can either download some or all photos by clicking on either one of the bottons as shown in the screenshot. Remember that you should have the iPhone connected to your copmuter, otherwise you would see the message saying the no device found or connected.

I owned the PowerBook 12″ but gave it to my lil sis a while back. Currently, I have an MSI Wind U100 netbook which runs OS X. I mainly use it for my iPhone to sync with iTunes and surfing the web.

I love simple solutions. This one didn’t work for me. I am using MacOS 10.5.8 and iPhone OS4.

Image capture runs, see the device and the photos on the iPhone. It says it is copying, lets you pick the destination. It is glacially slow, like 5 min to copy a 1 MB photo. When you go look in the destination folder, nothing is there.

I know you can email the photos from the iPhone a few at a time depending on mailbox size.

Can you believe Apple? Can’t get photos from iPhone to iPhoto. It used to work a couple upgrades ago. Almost a s bad as make a movie in iMovie, upload to YouTube, then it won’t play on the iPhone. Been there too.
