I just finished installing Windows 7 64-bit Ultimate edtion on my 1+ year old Toshiba laptop. The model is Satellite A200-*****.
The installation went smoothly, well almost. On the first boot, the graphic card driver, the finger print reader were automatically updated with Windows update. The only two devices which weren’t detected are: unknown device “ACPI\TOS6205″ (bluetooth) and the Texas Instrument 5-in-1 card reader. The 64-bit driver for the bluetooth can be downloaded from: http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/bluetooth/ thanks to this post at Toshiba Laptop forum.
Unfortunately, I haven’t found the place to download the driver for the card reader yet. Oh well, it doesn’t bother me that much; so I’m just gonna leave it for now.
What’s next? I have to restore Grub bootloader so that I can boot back into Debian.

Microsoft does have an official Windows 7 RC Support Forum located here http://tinyurl.com/9fhdl5 . It is supported by product specialists as well as engineers and support teams. You may want to check the threads there for additional assistance with driver support.

You can use the TIPCI driver published for the Windows Vista x64 version. It works flawlessly.
Actually, you can use the x64 versions of Vista for cam too – to have that setting page again.

trying to find the correct keyboard setup as things seem to be all over the place!
To the correct keybord setup, you go to the Control Panel, Region and Language, Keybords and Languages, and click on “change Keyboards”. Then, choose your country (to be more precise, choose the Language of Keyboard type ), apply and test the special characteres
for the texas card reader for a200 you can download it on download support of acer website, by selecting any notebook that use the same card reader, it get it there and it work for me on satellite a200 windows 7 rc
Try the Toshiba Software Installer for Windows 7.
It worked well for me.

Hey dude, got a problem here. My friend has the same laptop.. Toshiba Satellite A200 (PSAE3C-JA208C).. tried to install Windows 7 64-bit on it. It goes to as far as almost installing the OS completely until the part where it says “Completing installation.”…… where it suddenly craps out and gives me an error message that goes something like “Completing installation failed. Please see your CD vendor or your system administrator.”
We have the legit 64-bit Windows 7 DVD. My friend bought it from one of the local computer shops in New Brunswick, Canada. She moved here to Nova Scotia last week and NB is quite a 3 hour drive just to return the cd or have it repaired there cause, geez, it costs a lot.
Any idea what I could be missing? Here’s what I did…. I wiped out her HD, formatted her HD using the Windows 7 DVD before trying to install the OS on it, and tried to install Windows 7 on the 2nd partition (with 238GB). 1st partition was automatically made by the DVD installer which allocated 100mb of space for it.
I know it’s been a while since the last post here, but I really hope you can help. Cheers mate! =)
Well, my guess is as good as yours – it’s the problem with Windows 7 DVD. Windows 7 installation creates that small partition, so it’s normal. You can try to call up the store where you got the DVD from. I’m pretty sure they would replace it, since it’s defective. Sometimes, even manufactured DVDs are faulty. I got my Windows 7 from the MSDN subscription, iso image burned onto a blank disk.
